Depending on your pest problem and property, we'll tailor a pest control plan specifically for you. Please see below for the key services we offer.
Before undertaking control measures, it's important to understand the extent of the pest problem. For this reason we highly recommend performing a period of monitoring, where pests can be observed and documented. This provides a baseline which can be used to measure against for future control activities.
Monitoring is best performed over a 2-3 day period, covering a range of times throughout the day and weather conditions. This ensures that pest activity is observed across a variety of environmental conditions.
Before undertaking this service, RPS will agree with land managers/property owners:
Pest areas,
Monitoring type (E.g. digital/camera capture, eyes-on counting, etc.),
Duration / Schedule (E.g. x days, 'only at night', etc.)
All monitoring efforts are recorded in FeralScan and data captured on the target property is made available to the land manager/property owner. At the request of the land manager/property owner, RPS can record and provide this data separately.
Once the pest numbers have recorded, we will then discuss control measures to address the problem. For note, this service can be provided without follow-up pest control measures (i.e. if land managers want to record numbers only).
Our land-based shooting services are offered across all feral/pest species and in a range of varying calibres. Depending on your site specifics (such as proximity to neighbours) we can incorporate the use of low-noise options, such as air rifles or sound suppressors (a.k.a. silencers).
All shooting services are performed ethically, with pest species being targeted for single-shot dispatch. This ensures a quick fatality and less disruption to the environment. Where possible, elements of the pest will be used to ensure waste is kept to a minimum (E.g. meat for animals or bait, pelts for tanning, etc.).
Due to biodiversity considerations, all waste needs to be disposed on-site. RPS requests that land owners assist in this effort either by supplying a disposal pit (with a depth of 50cm or more) or by means of incineration.
Before shooting commences, RPS will provide land managers/property owners with an agreed pest control plan, detailing:
Target species and calibre options,
Site-specific conditions (E.g. neighbouring concerns, vehicle access, etc.),
A map detailing where shooting operations will be performed (including 'no-go' areas), and
A scheduled of proposed activities (including dates and times for shooting).
At the commencement of shooting operations, RPS will provide:
A operations log - summarising shooting activities (dates/times, pests eradicated, shot count, etc.),
A remediation plan - covering any follow-up activities needed, and
An invoice for activities undertaken.
At RPS we're accredited in the sourcing and use of vertebrate pesticides. This includes:
1080,
Pindone,
RHDV, and
PAPP
Depending on the target species and other property considerations (E.g. livestock, neighbouring population, etc.) we'll produce a tailored pesticide deployment plan in accordance with the legislated Pesticide Control Orders (PCOs).
Prior to application of pesticides, RPS and land managers/property owners need to agree on:
Type of pesticide,
Target species,
Non-target species(E.g. domestic animals at site, impacts to native fauna, etc.),
Environmental considerations (E.g. potential contamination, disposals, etc.),
Communications plan (E.g. Signage at site, notice to neighbours, etc.), and
Schedule of activities including free-feeding (encouragement of pests to take baited material).
Once agreed, RPS will carry out the deployment plan and provide records of the pesticide activities (this in accordance with pesticide legislated and must be retained by the land manager/property owner for 3 years).
As part of this service, a courtesy follow-up consultation is provided to ensure that the pesticide activity has been effective.
